Rev RICHARD MASHITER, B.A., Headmaster of Solihull Grammar School 1742-69, bapt 13 Dec 1713 at Bolton-le-Sands, Lancashire, son of ROGER MASHITER of Bolton-le-Sands, and his wife DOROTHY, dau of THOMAS BENISON of Heysham, Lancashire, educ Pembroke College, Oxford, m. 11 May 1742 at Solihull, Warwickshire, MARY, youngest dau of ANTHONY HOLBECHE of Bentley Hall and his wife JANE, dau of Sir JOHN PARSONS, Lord Mayor of London in 1703-4, M.P. for Reigate 1685-1717 and Commissioner for Victualling for the Royal Navy (P.C.C. will dated 14 Feb 1715/16 and proved 7 Feb 1717/18) and his wife ELIZABETH, dau of HUMPHREY BEANE. The Holbeche family can be traced back to Oliver Holbech of Holbech in Holland, Lincolnshire, who was living in 1223 according to a pedigree of the Holbeche family in the possession of R.H.B. There is a memorial giving details of the Holbeche, Mashiter and Short families in the Chapel of St. Catherine in Solihull Parish Church. Mary was buried at Solihull on 18 Jan 1747/48 and Richard was buried at Solihull on 25 Jun 1769 having had issue:

- Richard, attorney-at-law, of Wolverhampton, bapt 10 Oct 1744 at Solihull, d. unmarried and was buried at Solihull on 3 May 1778.

- Rev John Holbeche, M.A., Master and Chaplain of Temple Balsall 1855-66, Vicar of Temple Balsall 1866-92, b. and bapt 22 Feb 1811 at Temple Balsall, educ Rugby, Merton College, Oxford, m. 1853, his first cousin, Jane Mashiter, widow of Hugh Francis Burman and dau of Henry Couchman and his wife Elizabeth (née Short). - Marian, of 13 Milverton Crescent, Leamington, b. 27 Jul 1859, d. unmarried 20 Apr 1915 and was buried at Temple Balsall.
- William Henry, bapt 21 Feb 1814 at Temple Balsall, d. 28 Sep 1832, aged 18.
- George Albert Alfred, bapt 22 Apr 1819 at Temple Balsall, d. an infant.
- Frances Elizabeth, bapt 21 Aug 1812 at Temple Balsall, d. young.
- Emily Marian Sophia, b. 25 Oct 1815, bapt 26 Oct 1815 at Temple Balsall, m. 25 Oct 1854 at Iver, Buckinghamshire, Rev George Thomas Cameron, M.A., Vicar of St. Andrew’s, Heckington, Lincolnshire 1861-94, third son of Rev Charles Cameron of Shifnal, Shropshire. - Robert, J.P., Lieutenant Colonel, 21st Madras Native Infantry, purchased the Lordship of the Manor of Solihull in 1850 to become 54th Lord of the Manor, b. 30 Dec 1783, bapt 31 Dec 1783 at Solihull, retired as Honorary Colonel on 9 Sep 1830, served as a local magistrate 1837-59 and d.s.p. 25 Jun 1859 at Solihull (Will dated 7 May 1854 and proved 29 Aug 1859).
- Rev Thomas, M.A., B.D., Bursar, Trinity College, Oxford, Vice President, Trinity College, Oxford 1824-63 and 1866-79, b. and bapt 24 Jun 1789 at Solihull, educ Rugby, Trinity College, Oxford, Assistant Master at Rugby 1812-16. - Emily Jane Saunders, bapt 24 Dec 1815 at Solihull, m. 1 Mar 1838 at Magheralin, Rev Thomas Hassard Montgomery of Springfield, Co. Down, eldest son of Alexander Montgomery of Kilmer, Co. Meath.
